Haven Gallery is pleased to present New York based artist Tina Yu, for her second solo show “Before I Wake Up” at the gallery. “Before I Wake Up” is a collection of thirteen highly imaginative sculptures representing the whimsical elasticity of the subconscious mind as it flourishes in the dream world. Pastel hues and warm tones accentuate surreal forms and fanciful narratives, deriving influences from Chinese mythology, pop culture and Yu’s personal stories. Playful and joyous, these chimeric beings co exist in a peaceful, jubilant harmony, reminding us of the integral balance found and needed in nature.
About Tina Yu
Tina is a Chinese-raised New York-based sculptor/artist. After developing an interest in sculpting in college, she decided to pursue her passion after getting a BFA degree in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute. Drawing inspiration from movies, animals, nature, Chinese culture, family, childhood memories, and imaginations, Tina brings her imaginary characters to life through sculpting.
