Genevive Zacconi, “Immemorial”
Opening Reception with Genevive: Saturday, August 17th, 6-8pm.
Exhibition runs: August 17th – September 15th, 2024

Haven Gallery is pleased to present a collection of new works from artist Genevive Zacconi, entitled “Immemorial,” for her first solo show at the gallery. “Immemorial” blends traditional portraiture with symbology from antiquity, emphasizing the universality and timelessness of these motifs and their relevance throughout the evolution of mankind. Looking to the gamut of art history, Zacconi juxtaposes hieroglyphics, pictographs, and neoclassical portrait tendencies to connect us to past, present and future. Each painting is vehemently researched and pieced together to hold deep and pertinent meaning for both the artist and viewer. Developing her work further, Zacconi adds reflective gold, and carves into the surface of her paintings, creating sculptural dimension—insisting the tableaus be experienced in person. One finds multiple movements of creation contemplated and criticized, highlighting the vicissitudes of human development and artistic rumination.
