Seada, When the Garden Whispered”

Haven Gallery is honored to present “When the Garden Whispered”, an exhibition of new watercolor paintings by Thailand based Seada. “When the Garden Whispered” is Seada’s first solo show at the gallery and features eight new paintings that intertwine stories from Greek mythology with the traditional stylization of Thai art. Seada weaves colors, design and botanicals with her quintessential feline sitters as they playfully reenact these universal narratives from antiquity.
Artist Statement
Back in a time when Greek mythology was more than just myth, when it was a way for humans to understand the world around them, people used stories to explain the mysteries of nature; including the unique characteristics of flowers and plants.
In this series of works, I reimagine Greek mythological paintings through the lens of Thai traditional art, incorporating its distinctive patterns, shapes, and lines into the forms of various cats. These works bring to life the stories behind each flower and plant; some born from sorrow, some driven by desire, and some remaining faithful, forever devoted to a love that can never be.
